Virtual Football World: The 1st World Cup (Africa Zone-Stage 2)

African Qualification: Second Stage Rankings

  • Group A: DR Congo proved to be an unstoppable giant with 5 wins and 1 draw. Gambia’s advancement was a heart-stopping experience, scraping through by a mere 1-point margin. Chad, the underdog survivor from stage one, faced a brutal reality check, finishing with 0 points.

  • Group B: Egypt cruised to 15 points under the "Pharaoh’s gaze." Gabon showed their star quality to snatch the second ticket, while Libya and Rwanda faltered due to an inability to pick up points on the road.

  • Group C: A chaotic group. Ghana is a shadow of their former "Black Stars" glory, struggling to an 11-point finish. Guinea followed with 10 points. Lesotho, the stage-one qualifier, failed to advance but played spoiler, effectively ending Guinea-Bissau’s dream.

  • Group D: A massive upset! Traditional power Cameroon topped the group with 13 points, but the runner-up spot saw Mauritania and Mali finish level on 10 points. Mali, the representatives of "African technical football," were agonizingly eliminated on goal difference!

  • Group E: Nigeria delivered the most perfect performance: 6 wins, 18 points. Benin followed steadily with 12 points, while Botswana suffered the same fate as Chad—finishing bottom with 0 points.

  • Group F: Morocco cruised to top spot. Zimbabwe showed superior physicality and tactical awareness to edge out Kenya for the second spot with 11 points.

  • Group G: Senegal remains the immovable giant of West Africa. The surprise was Comoros, who continued their magical form from the AFCON to advance with 12 points. Somalia’s dream run ended at 0 points.

  • Group H: The most intense group. Algeria struggled but took top spot. Cape Verde confirmed their "Giant Killer" reputation to advance. Eswatini, despite finishing last, earned 5 points and left with their heads held high.

  • Group I: Ivory Coast showed their pedigree with 15 points. Congo proved they have the capital to challenge the big dogs, while Tanzania faced a crushing reality check, finishing with only 1 point.

  • Group J: The "Group of Death." South Africa topped the table with 15 points. Zambia won the "do-or-die" clash against Angola to take the vital second spot. Liberia, the stage-one survivor, served as a "points provider" for the giants.

  • Group K: Tunisia played their trademark utilitarian, clinical football to advance. Equatorial Guinea edged out Namibia on goal difference to take second place.

  • Group L: Burkina Faso dominated with 15 points. Uganda secured the second spot through gritty resilience, while Sudan became one of the most disappointed teams of the stage, finishing with 0 points.

Third Stage Groupings

  • Group A: Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Mauritania

  • Group B: Nigeria, Ghana, Gambia, Zimbabwe

  • Group C: Cameroon, South Africa, Guinea, Uganda

  • Group D: Morocco, Tunisia, Benin, Congo

  • Group E: Egypt, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Comoros

  • Group F: Senegal, DR Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Zambia

Third Stage Analysis

  • Group A: Algeria's redemption chance. However, Burkina Faso and Cape Verde are extremely difficult "hard nuts to crack." Mauritania needs to pull off another miracle.

  • Group B: Mars colliding with Earth! The "West African Derby" between Nigeria and Ghana is the pinnacle of African football. Can Gambia play the "Dragon Slayer" role again?

  • Group C: A clash of power and technique. Cameroon brings raw physical impact, South Africa insists on ground penetration, and Guinea is a major wild card.

  • Group D: A pragmatic group. Morocco has the best tactical literacy in Africa, while Tunisia has the most suffocating defense. Benin and Congo will not give up easily.

  • Group E: The true "Group of Death!" Salah’s Egypt vs. the star-studded Ivory Coast. Gabon and Comoros are the hunters surrounded by beasts—if they aren't careful, they will be torn apart, though Comoros might sneak through the chaos.

  • Group F: Senegal is the benchmark. The battle for the second spot will be a massive free-for-all among the high-flying DR Congo, a rejuvenated Zambia, and the tournament disruptors, Equatorial Guinea.
